Welcome!
_As a vital ministry of Holy Spirit Parish in the Diocese of Oakland, Holy Spirit School is an educational community rooted in Catholic faith and tradition. Holy Spirit School library’s main role is to support the school’s academic curriculum, while encouraging students to develop intellectually, spiritually, morally, emotionally, socially, and physically. The library aims to provide our students a safe and caring environment where the learning process is unique to each individual. As a community, we recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. We facilitate an awareness of global responsibility and promote service to the greater community by fostering cultural sensitivity and discipleship in the spirit of Jesus Christ. The secondary goal of the Holy Spirit School library is to foster a personal love of reading and learning in every student, by providing resources and materials for extra-curricular reading and research.
Holy Spirit School has a fully automated library. There are approximately 10,000 books in the school’s libraries (including the library books in first and second grades). Two computers are available for students to access the OPAC in the main library. Last year, we added the TrueFlix online book subscription service for grades Third to Fifth which focuses on Science and Social Studies. BookFlix presents books that are paired fiction/nonfiction for grades Preschool to Third grade. Recently, we have added Freedom Flix. Freedom Flix focuses on Social Studies/History for grades Fourth to Eighth. These subscription services are free to Holy Spirit School families. The subscription services are listed under the "Interactive Books" tab listed above. |

_Our Mission
Holy Spirit School is dedicated to developing the whole child by providing a quality Catholic education in a safe and caring environment.
Our Philosophy
As a vital ministry of Holy Spirit Parish in the Diocese of Oakland, Holy Spirit School is an educational community rooted in Catholic faith and tradition. As a community, we recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. We believe all students should be encouraged to develop intellectually, spiritually, morally, emotionally, socially, and physically in a safe and caring environment where the learning process is unique to each individual. We facilitate an awareness of global responsibility and promote service to the greater community by fostering cultural sensitivity and discipleship in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father, your knowledge is infinite and You have given human beings a wonderful capacity to learn on every level: practical, social, cultural, intellectual, and so on. Bless all institutions of learning and all teachers as well as students. Grant to them all as well as to me a dedication to true knowledge, a true love of learning, and a capacity to continue to learn through life, until they arrive at the knowledge of You, and your Son, Jesus, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
